French Onion Seasoned Green Beans

These French onion seasoned green beans are a great twist on a classic side dish. All you’re going to do is add some canned green beans and mushrooms to a baking dish. Next, you’re going to add some caramelized onions and French onion soup mix. That’s literally it. I love this easy vegetable side dish!
There are so many ways to make baked green beans. I love this recipe. You can serve them with so many things. I had some onion soup mix and some green beans in my pantry and threw together so quickly.
Equipment You’ll Need
For this recipe, you’ll need a baking dish, a skillet, a knife to slice your onion with and a spoon to stir. This is on of those recipes that’s also not going to mess up the kitchen.
Ingredients You’ll Need
Green Beans:
I used 4 cans of green beans. I put below in the notes how you can easily cut this recipe in half.
Mushrooms:
I used a can of mushrooms. You can totally omit these if you’d prefer.
Yellow Onion:
I sliced two yellow onions.
Butter:
I sautéed mu onions in two tablespoons of butter.
French Onion Soup Mix:
I actually used a Lipton Onion soup and dip mix. You can use any French onion soup packet.
How to Make These French Onion Seasoned Green Beans
step one:
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Drain three cans of the cut green beans and add them to your baking dish. Add the fourth can without draining. Then, drain and add in the can of mushrooms.
step two:
Add two tablespoons of butter to a skillet on medium heat. Add your sliced onions to the skillet. Sauté for several minutes until the onions are caramelized. Then, add them to the baking pan along with any leftover butter or grease in the skillet.
step three:
Add in your packets of onion soup mix. Stir well then add to the oven for about 20 minutes. Serve and enjoy!

- 1 4 oz can Mushroom Stems and Pieces
- 2 Yellow Onions, Sliced
- 2 tbsp Butter
- 2 2 oz French Onion Soup and Dip Packets

Cut recipe in Half:
I’m always cooking for so many, but you can easily cut this recipe in half. I would use two cans, one onion, and one packet of the soup mix. I would still sauté the onion in two tablespoons of butter.Hold on…
