Equipment

  • Deep Skillet or Dutch Oven
  • Pot with Lid
  • Spatula or Spoon

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Rice
  • 5 cup Beef Broth
  • 1 lb Ground Beef
  • 1 lb Ground Regular Sausage
  • 1/2 Yellow Onion, Chopped
  • 1/2 Green Bell Pepper, Chopped
  • 3 Celery Stalks, Chopped
  • 1 tbsp Poultry Seasoning
  • 2 tsp Salt
  • 2 tsp Pepper
  • 2 tsp Garlic Powder
  • 1 tsp Cayenne Pepper
  • 2-3 Bay Leaves

Instructions

  • In a medium pot, add 4 cups of beef broth. Bring it to a boil. Add in 2 cups of white rice, then cover and reduce heat to low.
  • In a deep skillet or Dutch oven, add in your sausage and beef with about a tablespoon of oil so it won't stick. Sauté on medium. Once it's starting to brown, add in your celery, onion, and bell pepper. Mix it all together thoroughly. Add in seasonings. With a spoon or spatula, chop and mince the ground meat until it is fine and no major hunks are present.
  • After about 20 minutes, your rice should be finished and all beef broth cooked out. Fold the rice into the beef mixture. Add in about a cup more broth and bay leaves and stir. Let it simmer for 5-10 more minutes. Serve hot and enjoy!
