Old-Fashioned Strawberry Pie

I love an old-fashioned strawberry pie. I had a pie crust and some fresh strawberries and decided to throw it all together. Once thing I do like about this recipe, is the strawberry part is not too sweet. If that's even possible? It pairs perfect with the flaky crust, and my personal favorite part, a thick layer of homemade whipped cream topping. Top it more fresh strawberries to finish it off. This pie just looks delicious. Read along to see how I made this simple strawberry pie in no time.

Equipment

  • 9" Pie Dish
  • Knife
  • Small Sauce Pan
  • Large Mixing Bowl
  • Electric Hand Mixer

Ingredients

  • 1 Ready Made or Frozen Pie Crust
  • 1 lbs Strawberries, Sliced
  • 1 3oz Packet Strawberry Jello
  • 1 cup Boiling Water
  • 1/2 cup Granulated Sugar
  • 1/4 cup Cold Water
Whipped Topping
  • 1 1/2 cups Heavy Whipping Cream
  • 1/2 cup Granulated Sugar

Instructions

  • Gather your pre-made pie crust or cook yours according to package. Slice your strawberries and line in pie crust. In a small pot, bring one cup of water to boil.
  • Add in Jello mix and 1/2 cup of granulated sugar to boiling water. Stir for 1-2 minutes until Jello is fully mixed in. Then remove from heat and add in 1/4 cup of cold water. Pour on top of the sliced strawberries in the pie dish. Place in the refrigerator for at least 3 hours.
  • Once the Jello pie filling has set, remove pie from refrigerator. In a large bowl, add in heavy whipping cream and 1/2 cup of granulated sugar. Whip on high with an electric hand mixer until stiff peaks form. Spread on top of pie. Serve immediately or optimally place back into refrigerator for 30 more minutes to let the topping chill. Enjoy!
