Call it soup or call it just beans, this 15 bean soup with ham is so simple and delicious. This recipe technically a soup or just a crockpot full of beans. You buy the bag of 15 beans from the grocery store. Put them in the crockpot with some ham hock and plenty of broth and water. Cook on low for about 8 hours. These beans are amazing and so simple to make.
Ok. 15 bean soup is exactly what it says. It’s an actual bag of beans you buy in the grocery store. It has 15 of these bean varieties: northern, pinto, large lima, yelloweye, garbanzo, baby lima, green split pea, kidney, cranberry, small white, pink, small red, yellow split pea, lentil, navy, white kidney, black beans.
Equipment You’ll Need
You’ll need a large crockpot. Mine is this exact one I have linked below. It’s 7 quarts. Then, you’ll need a ladle or something to stir it with and you’ll also need some forks in the end to shred your ham hock with.
Ingredients You’ll Need
15 Beans with the Ham Packet:
This is an actual bag of dry beans that you buy from the grocery. It comes with a little ham bouillon like packet for flavor. Super good.
Ham Hocks:
I used two ham hocks. You can also use just some thick ham steak. I like the hocks better. You can find hocks in the pork section of your grocery or act your butcher for some.
Chicken Broth:
I used a whole thing of chicken broth. This adds flavor and allows the beans to cook down in plenty of liquid.
Water:
I also added two cups of water. I don’t ever soak my beans overnight so this ensures there’s plenty of liquid for your beans to cook down.
Seasonings:
For additional seasonings, I used salt, pepper, onion and garlic powder and sugar.

Soak or no?
I don’t and they always turn out fine. Most of the beans in this packet are lentils and tiny little things so you don’t have to.Hold on…
