I love eating shrimp. They are one of my favorites. However, sadly, Allen is allergic to them, so I really don’t get to cook them very often especially. I love these bacon wrapped shrimp. The balsamic glaze and brown sugar just perfectly complement the bacon.
Questions you may have:
Do I use frozen or fresh shrimp?
It really doesn’t matter. I used frozen. I bought them already peeled, deveined with the tail still on. This made it so much easier. Then, I just thawed them out. However, you can just as easily use fresh. You’ll have to peel and devein them yourself.
Does the type of bacon matter?
It really doesn’t. However, I used a regular thickness cut of bacon. I feel like a thick cut would be too much. The flavor doesn’t matter.
What type of balsamic?
I actually used a balsamic vinaigrette dressing and then I drizzled regular balsamic vinegar over them once they were finished. I feel they both work perfectly like this.
Equipment You’ll Need:
You’re not going to need a whole lot of equipment for the recipe. I used a large cast-iron skillet, a sharp kitchen knife and a couple of mixing bowls. That’s about it. I’ve linked some of my favorites below.
Ingredients You’ll Need:
Shrimp
You’re going to need some jumbo size shrimp peeled with the tail on.
Bacon
You’ll need about 3/4 of a pound of bacon. I just use the regular thickness bacon. You’ll cut them slices in half then wrap your shrimp.
Balsamic
I use some balsamic vinaigrette dressing. I also use balsamic vinegar at the end. You could use either or both.
Butter
I used a little bit of butter in the skillet. Melt about 3 tablespoons spoons and pour it over the bacon wrapped shrimp.
Brown Sugar
There’s no specific amount of brown sugar to use. I just sprinkled it over the top of each shrimp.
Seasonings
Seasoning used general seasoning to season shrimp. I used salt, pepper, garlic powder and onion powder.
