Creamy Crawfish and Crab Bisque

This creamy crawfish and crab bisque is the best of the seafood bisque recipes. It’s just a thick and creamy soup filled with corn, potatoes, green onions, lump crab and boiled crawfish meats. This soup is so good to eat all year long and is simple to make. I’ve included a traditional stovetop way to make or a crockpot recipe. I love a creamy soup and this one is one of my favorites.
I love this crawfish and crab bisque recipe. It’s simple and so full of flavor. It’s spicy yet sweet at the same time. This would be amazing in a bread bowl too. Did I mention this also freezes well?
Equipment You’ll Need
Depending on the way you make this soup will determine what equipment you’ll need. You’ll either need a large crockpot or a large pot. For both ways, you’ll need a kitchen knife and some measuring cups.
Ingredients You’ll Need
Crawfish Tail Meat:
You’ll need 12 ounces of boiled crawfish tail meat. It typically comes frozen.
Crab Meat:
I used a nicer quality crab meat. You don’t want the artificial peel apart crab. You’ll want like a blue crab meat. This is going to be in the seafood section of the grocery store.
Butter:
You’ll need about two tablespoons of butter.
Potatoes:
You’ll need 3-4 large russet potatoes. You’ll need to dice them up.
Corn:
You’ll need a can of whole kernel corn.
Green Onions:
You’ll need a few bunches of green onions and chop them up.
Chicken or Vegetable Broth:
You’ll need about 3 cups of vegetable or chicken broth. Or seafood broth…
Seasonings:
You’ll need Cajun seasonings, Old Bay, garlic powder, onion powder, sugar, and pepper.
Cream Cheese:
You’ll need two blocks of cream cheese. It’s best to let them soften first.
Heavy Cream:
You’ll need heavy cream. I think I used about a cup and a half.
Flour:
I used some flour to thicken my soup up.
