Easy Crockpot Red Beans and Rice

You’ll love this easy crockpot red beans and rice. This is the easiest comfort food. You’ll need some canned red kidney beans, smoked sausage, some Cajun holy trinity, and of a few seasonings. Let it slow cook all day on high. Serve it with white rice and that’s it. This is perfect for a crowd or just as an easy dinner at home.
I’ve said this before in another post, but my husband loves a big ole pot of beans. I love this red beans and rice recipe. It’s so simple. I used canned beans. Sometimes, I just really don’t want to go through the process or effort to soak my beans overnight. These canned red beans come out perfect.
Equipment You’ll Need
You won’t need a lot of items to make this easy red beans and rice. For this red beans and rice recipe, you’ll need a large crockpot. You’ll also need a knife and a spoon.
Ingredients You’ll Need
Dark Red Kidney Beans:
I used 6 15-ounce cans of dark red kidney beans.
Smoked Sausage:
You’ll need a few pounds of smoked sausage. The exact amount I used was 28 ounces. I used 2 14-ounce packages.
Holy Trinity:
You’ll need the Cajun holy trinity. I chopped and used one green bell pepper, one yellow onion and 2 sticks of celery.
Chicken Broth:
I used about 3 cups of chicken broth.
Butter:
I love adding butter into crockpot red beans and rice. I just adds a little more flavor.
Seasonings:
As for seasonings, I used salt, pepper, garlic powder, sage, and Italian seasonings.
How to Make This Crockpot Red Beans and Rice
step one:
Chop your veggies and smoked sausage. Then, add all of your ingredients to a large crockpot. Cook on high for at least 8 hours.
step two:
Cook some white rice then serve each serve with a scoop of red beans and rice. Enjoy!

- 1 tsp Italian Seasonings
- 1 tsp Garlic Powder
