Ham Salad

This ham salad is a classic, old-fashioned recipe. It’s essentially just like a chicken or tuna salad. It’s diced or left over ham finely shredded in a food processor with a mayo dressing, relish, celery, boiled egg and a few seasonings. Eat it on a sandwich or with crackers and it’s perfect to keep on hand in the fridge to snack on.
I have always been a big fan of ham. Growing up on holidays, I would prefer ham over turkey anyway. Same goes for sandwiches. I just love ham, ok? This ham salad is the perfect salad to keep in your fridge or to serve at a function. It can go with anything. Serve it on toast, Hawaiian rolls, crackers or even eat it solo.
Equipment You’ll Need
One thing that I love about this recipe is that the only equipment you’ll need is a food processor or blender. That’s basically it. You can make this recipe without one. However, the consistency is just not the same.
Ingredients You’ll Need
Diced Ham:
You’ll need about 16 ounces of diced ham. You can use leftover ham or diced ham from the store.
Mayonnaise:
I used two tablespoons of mayo. You can add more if you want, but I felt like this was a good amount. This will serve as your dressing binder and bring all the ingredients together.
Sweet Relish:
Like most salads, like tuna salad, you’ll have a relish. I used sweet relish. You’ll need about a tablespoon.
Celery:
I used one stalk of celery. This add some flavor and a little bit of crunch.
Boiled Egg:
Every salad needs some boiled egg…
Seasonings::
For seasonings, I used salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder and celery seed.
