Simple White Pizza Recipe
I love this simple white pizza recipe. I am a major fan of a creamy white pizza. This has a regular thick and soft crust straight out of the refrigerated section in your grocery store. Top it with some melted butter with herbs, creamy ricotta and a mix of mozzarella and parmesan. This pizza is amazing; it even looks like it came from a restaurant. Make it in less than 30 minutes. You won’t want to order take out anymore.
Equipment You Will Need
With this white pizza recipe, you’re pretty much just working with a pizza pan. I used a small bowl to melt my butter in, a fork to score the dough, a spoon for the ricotta, and a pizza cutter. Thats literally it! Won’t make a huge mess.
Ingredients You Will Need
Refrigerated Pizza Dough:
I used a refrigerated pizza dough. You can find these in in the cold section of your grocery store by the biscuits, butter, and cheese.
Butter:
Just use whatever kind you have. I used two tablespoons.
Ricotta:
I used ricotta with whole milk. However, you can use the kind with skim. This will be the creamy base of the pizza.
Shredded Mozzarella:
I topped my ricotta with shredded mozzarella. You can use a thick or finely shredded. It doesn’t matter.
Fresh Mozzarella:
I then topped my shredded mozz with fresh sliced mozzarella. You can find this in the deli section of your grocery store by the other gourmet cheese. You can buy it already sliced. Mine came in a ball, so I sliced it myself. You can also use the pearls for this recipe, but I like the thick slices. That’s just me.
Shredded Parmesan:
I topped of the mozzarella with some grated parmesan. I didn’t use too much. Just to add a bit of different cheesy flavor.
Fresh Herbs:
Ok. If you’re not a big herb person, you don’t even have to use them. I mixed fresh basin and oregano with my butter for the first layer. I then topped it with more basil. This step is optional, but adds so much more rich flavor.
Red Pepper Flakes:
Doesn’t everyone eat red pepper flakes on their pizza…? Again. Optional.
Step by Step How to Make This Simple White Pizza Recipe
Step 1
Preheat your oven to 425 degrees. Grease your pan and spread out your refrigerated pizza dough on top. Once you have your desired size and shape, I like to roll the edges up to create the crust and a barrier for toppings. Poke your dough with a fork all over. This helps it cook more evenly. Melt two tablespoons of butter with about a teaspoon each of fresh basil and oregano. (The herbs in this recipe are optional.) Spread the melted butter mixture all over your dough, even brushing it on the raised crust.
Step 2
Add about 3-4 tablespoons of ricotta to your dough. Spread it around evenly with a spoon. Then, add shredded mozzarella all over the top. About 2 handfuls worth. Add your fresh sliced mozzarella all over the top of the shredded. I used the full 8 ounces. Finish off with some grated or shredded parmesan cheese, herbs, and red pepper flakes. Bake in the oven for about 15 minutes or until cheese is melted and crust is golden brown. Serve while hot and enjoy!
