These slow cooker pork spare ribs with this homemade rib rub. You won’t want to make ribs any other way. It’s so simple, and you practically only need two ingredients, plus your seasonings. Mix your rub together, rub it on the ribs, add them and a can of Coke to the crockpot and slow cook for 6 hours. These make the simplest and juiciest ribs for your next cookout or summer event.
These crockpot ribs are delicious. I said this in a prior post…I’ve got to get away from making crockpot meals. However, I can’t help it. It’s just so simple. I made these one Sunday. They are so juicy and tender. If you want to add BBQ sauce, you totally can. However, I thought they were perfect with just the homemade rib rub.
Equipment You’ll Need
The main thing that you’ll need is a large crockpot. Mine is 7-quarts. You’ll also need a sharp kitchen knife, a cutting board, maybe some tongs and some measuring cups and spoons.
Ingredients You’ll Need
Pork Spare Ribs:
You’ll need two slabs of pork spare ribs. Each slab will be about 3ish pounds. You’ll maneuver them in to fit into the crockpot.
Coca Cola:
I really thought a long time about what to “steam,” essentially, a Coke was perfect. Added great flavor and each rib came out so juicy.
Homemade Rib Rub:
For the rub, you’ll need a cup of brown sugar then one tablespoon each of the following ingredients: salt, pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, smoked paprika, chipotle chili pepper powder, chili powder, and Italian seasoning.
How to Make These Slow Cooker Pork Spare Ribs with the Homemade Rib Rub
Step one:
In a small bowl, combine all the ingredients for your homemade rib rub. Remove ribs from packaging and pat dry. Rub both sides of both racks of ribs with the rub generously.
Step two:
Add the ribs to the crockpot. Add 1 cup (8 ounces) of Coca Cola to the crockpot. Cook on low for 6 hours. Remove from crockpot and cut into individual ribs. Serve and enjoy!
