You can never have too many dip recipes. Cold, hot, I don’t care. I love all dips and can make a meal out of one. This recipe is so delicious. This is essentially a spinach dip. However, you’re going to use turnip greens. You can make your own. However, I used a can of turnips. I feel like this is just the easiest thing to do.
Questions You Might Have:
What type of turnips greens do I use?
I used canned southern turnip greens. I mainly do this because it is easiest. They are already washed, cooked, and seasoned. I used a 27 ounce can of seasoned turnip greens.
How to store this dip?
This dip will keep in the fridge for 3-5 days. You can heat up smaller servings or heat the whole thing on 275 in the oven until it’s warmed up.
Can I freeze this recipe?
Yes. You can store this in a freezer safe container. You can then bake it from frozen at 350 until it’s bubbly or thaw first then bake.
Equipment You’ll Need:
The main equipment you’ll need is a large mixing bowl and a baking dish. I used a 10-inch cast iron skillet, but you can use a 9×9 baking dish. You’ll also potentially need a can opener and something to fry your bacon in. That’s why I used the cast iron. It kills two birds with one stone.
Ingredients You’ll Need:
Cream Cheese
You’ll need two blocks of cream cheese. You’ll want them softened before you add them to the bowl.
Bacon
I used about 3/4 of a pound of bacon. It doesn’t matter what type or thickness of bacon that you use.
Turnip Greens
I used a 27 ounce can of southern-style turnip greens. I like using the canned for this recipe, because it’s easy. You don’t have to wash or cook the turnips beforehand.
Cheese
Other than the cream cheese, I used a cup of shredded mozzarella and a half cup of shredded parmesan cheese.
Mayonnaise
You’ll need two tablespoons of mayonnaise for this recipe. It doesn’t matter what type or brand.
Sour Cream
You’ll also need two tablespoons of sour cream. I have always added sour cream and mayo to most all of my hot cream cheese dips. I feel like they just add a good flavor combo.
Seasonings
As for the seasonings, you’ll need salt, pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, and sugar.
