You cannot beat a sausage balls recipe. This is still the same, old recipe. All you need is sausage, Bisquick, cream cheese, and cheddar cheese. We are not reinventing the wheel here. These are just including my tried-and-true tips to making the perfect sausage balls.
I love this sausage balls recipe. I’m telling you; these come out so perfect. I have not ever made this recipe and they balls come out hard or crumbly. They come out so perfectly moist (even though I hate that word) and fluffy. If you make these, you won’t want to do it any other way.
Questions you might have…
My number one tip:
I have made these so many times and my tried trick is to let your sausage and cream cheese come to room temperature. I feel like this lets everything get mixed together so well and creates the perfect texture sausage ball.
Should I flash freeze these?
You can flash freeze before baking. I personally don’t. Typically, when people flash freeze sausage balls, it’s to prevent them from spreading. If you cook these to the instruction, they won’t spread. They will become a perfect fluffy ball.
Can I freeze these to make later?
Yes! Freeze them for about an hour on the pan. Then, you’ll add them to a freezer-safe bag. Store them for up to six months. You’ll want to freeze them on the pan, so they won’t stick together. Bake according to instructions. You may need to add on a few minutes of baking time to cook from frozen.
Equipment You’ll Need
You really need a stand mixer for this recipe. You’ll need to use the paddle mixer. You can try to use a hand mixer, but it may not work. You’ll also need a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Ingredients You’ll Need
Ground Pork Sausage
You’ll need one pound of pork sausage. You want to completely let this come to room temperature before mixing.
Cream Cheese
You’ll need an 8-ounce block of cream cheese. Again, you want to let this completely soften and come to room temperature before mixing.
Bisquick
You’ll need two cups of Bisquick. You’ll mix one cup with the room temperature cream cheese and sausage. Once that is mixed together, add in the other cup.
Shredded Cheddar Cheese
You’ll need a 8-ounce bag of cheddar cheese. You can use a sharp or mild cheddar. You can use whatever your preference is.
