Two Ingredient Sweet and Sour Sausage Bites

I love this two ingredient sweet and sour sausage bites recipe. As the title says, it’s literally two ingredients thrown together for a quick appetizer packed with flavor. All it is is two pounds of regular smoked sausage and about a third of a bottle of sour and sour sauce. Super, super easy. I served these this week for the college national championship game. Read along to see how I put together this super simple appetizer.

Equipment

  • Medium Pot
  • Knife
  • Spoon or Spatula
  • Toothpicks

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs Regular Smoked Sausage
  • 2/3 cup Sweet and Sour Sauce

Instructions

  • Slice smoked sausage into 1/2 inch rounds. Place them in the saucepan on medium heat. Let them sauté in the pan for around 5-8 minutes. The grease of the sausage will start to burn off. Empty the sausage onto a plate lined with several sheets of paper towels, then pat the sausages with a paper towel to soak off as much of the grease as possible. Make sure no grease remains in the pot.
  • Add the sausage back into the pan. You can turn the heat up to high. The rounds will start to char and sear on the outsides. Once the rounds have a nice sear, add in the sweet and sour sauce. Stir for a minute or two then empty to serve plate. Serve with toothpicks and enjoy!

Notes

Once this recipe is finished, you can also empty them into a crockpot. Place the crockpot on a warm or low setting. This is perfect for ensuring sausages stay warm for the duration of a gathering or party.
