Questions you might have…
Can I use frozen brussel sprouts?
You can. However, I would recommend using fresh for the best results. You run the risk of these brussel sprouts being watery. You’ll need to thaw them out first, and make sure they are as dry as possible before adding them to the skillet.
Should I trim the brussel sprouts?
I don’t. I feel like when I trim them, they run the risk of falling apart then you’ll just have a lot of leaves. This will be simply up to person preference. However, you’ll want to make sure that you use halved brussel sprouts.
How long will these last leftover?
These should last in the fridge for up to three to five days. I would add them back to a skillet and warm them up over medium to low heat. You can always heat up individual servings in the microwave.
Equipment You’ll Need
You’ll need a large skillet with a lid. I like using my Staub braiser. You’ll need a spoon or spatula for sauteing, and you’ll need a knife and cutting board to chop your bacon.
Ingredients You’ll Need
Bacon
You’ll need a half of a pound of bacon. You can use whatever bacon flavor or thickness you’d like. You’ll slice the bacon up into small pieces before you fry it.
Brussel Sprouts
I used two bags of fresh, halved brussel sprouts.
Maple Syrup
I used a quarter of a cup of maple syrup. This will be the base of your maple glazed that the sprouts will fry in.
Brown Sugar
You’ll need a half of a cup of brown sugar. The brown sugar mixed with the syrup and seasonings will create the most perfect glaze flavor to go along with the bacon.
Seasonings
As for seasonings, I used salt, pepper, and a tiny bit of cayenne pepper. This will give the brussel sprouts a small bit of heat. You can omit if you’d like!
