This shrimp louie salad is the perfect salad to make a meal of. It’s so rich and hearty with some skillet sauteed shrimp, boiled eggs, avocado and creamy homemade dressing.
I love a big hearty salad. This one is so rich and fatty and delicious. This salad apparently originates in California, but it reminds me of something you’ll find in New Orleans. This is perfect to make a meal out of.
Equipment You’ll Need
There’s not a whole lot needed to throw a salad together. You’ll need a large bowl and something to mix up your dressing in. You’ll also need a large skillet and some tongs to sauté your shrimp in.
Romaine Lettuce:
I feel like romaine lettuce is the best choice for this salad. You’l need 2-3 romaine heads of lettuce.
Cherry Tomatoes:
I used a bunch of cherry tomatoes. No particular amount.
Avocado:
You can use a whole avocado, slice it and place it on the salad.
Boiled Eggs:
You’ll need 2 to 3 boiled eggs.
Capers:
I used about a tablespoon or so of capers.
Shrimp:
I used jumbo shrimp. I bought the raw, peeled, tail-on.
Seasonings:
As for seasonings, you’ll need some hot sauce, salt, sugar, pepper and lemon pepper for this recipe.
Dressing:
The dressing is a mix of mayo, sour cream, Worcestershire sauce, lemon juice, seasonings and hot sauce.
How to Make This Shrimp Louie Salad
