This dish is seriously one of my favorites. I love making it for every holiday. Seriously. Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter. All of them I’m making a cheesy green bean casserole. I really love making it this way. The cream and the cheese are not essential in this dish. No going back for me. It’s the sweet, creamy flavors, topped with the crunch and salty French-fried onions just make each bite pop. I could seriously eat this whole pan it’s so good.

Equipment You’ll Need

The main think you’ll need for this green bean casserole is a mixing bowl and a 9×13 casserole dish. That’s literally it. I used my cast iron dish. It’s just a habit now and I love it. When I’m finished with the dish, I just wash it out with water, wipe it down dry, then rub it down with oil. A simpler process would definitely be to use a glass or ceramic dish.

Ingredients You’ll Need

Green Beans:

I used 4 cans of cut green beans.

Cream of mushroom soup:

You’ll need two cans of cream of mushroom soup. You can use reduced sodium if you wish to.

heavy cream & cheese:

This is the magic of the recipe. You’ll use a cup of heavy cream and a cup and a half of mild cheddar. This is so delicious and makes this recipe in my opinion!

French-Fried Onions:

This is like a French’s green bean casserole recipe in the sense that is uses ALOT of French-fried onions. Too many is never too much. I also put some thinly sliced onion on the top as well. I just felt like it made the casserole pretty.
