I really, really love Asian food of any kind. With that being said…Allen does not. I try to squeeze these recipes in when I can. But seriously, who doesn’t love a little fried ball of pork wrapped in dough?? These are so satisfying, and they are one of those bites that you can’t quit going back for. I served them with soy sauce and a sweet red Thai chili sauce. So good! Don’t forget the chopsticks! They make these super fun to eat, too!

Equipment You’ll Need

For this recipe, it really depends on the way you intend to cook them on what equipment you’ll need. You’ll need either a pan or a baking sheet or an air fryer. It’s really up to you! Like I said before, I love chopsticks and they make this recipe so fun. These chopsticks I have come from Walmart and are $2 for a big pack of them. They are also high quality and won’t give you splinters! Haha You also may need some sauce dishes or a soy dispenser!

Ingredients You’ll Need

There are a lot of ways and ingredients that you can make a pork dumplings recipe. However, the title says simple. I am not a cook that uses a lot of exotic ingredients all the time so there’s no need in going and buying a lot of ancillary things that can go to waste. I used the napa cabbage, ground pork, green onions, soy sauce, ground ginger and some other typical seasonings you already have at home.

Also… this is a PSA to make sure that you do not buy ground sausage! Just plain ground pork for these pork dumplings.

How to Make Pork Dumplings

You’ll see below that I included three different ways to cook these dumplings. It really just depends on how you choose to cook them. The oven method is the best for cooking the most at one time, but they are all just as delicious as the other!

Pan Fry Method

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine all ingredients for the pork filling. Mix thoroughly.
  • Lay a wonton wrapper on a plate where in makes a diamond shape. Add about a quarter-sized ball of the filling to the center of each wonton wrapper. Fold the bottom point up to touch the top point. Wet fingers to secure it in place. Then fold the side two points inward. It should make an envelope.
  • Heat a pan to medium heat. Add a few tablespoons of oil then add several dumplings to the pan. Cook each dumpling for at least 3-4 minutes on each side. Remove from oil and place on a paper towel lined plate.
  • Serve with more soy sauce or dipping sauce of your choice. Enjoy!

Oven Method

  • Preheat your oven to 400 degrees. In a large mixing bowl, combine all ingredients for the pork filling.
  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and place the dumplings on top of the paper. Bake for 10-12 minutes. They should be crispy and brown.
  • Serve with more soy sauce or dipping sauce of your choice. Enjoy!

Air Fryer Method

Notes

HOw to know the pork is cooked?
I took my food thermometer and tested them out. I made sure the internal temperature was at least 150 degrees. Be sure that you have the thermometer placed in the exact center of the dumpling. The point of the thermometer should not damage your dumplings!
Can I freeze these?
Yes! Simply assemble the dumplings and place them in the refrigerator or freezer.
