This crockpot smothered chicken with sausage and lima. Ok. This is really just a throw it all in the crockpot, easy, southern comfort dish. You’ll slow cook some chicken, sausage and lima beans together all day, and right before serving, mix up a homemade gravy and pour it in. This is recipe is extremely easy and so delicious.
I love a good crockpot recipe. This crockpot smothered chicken with sausage and lima beans is so good, and literally requires no effort. Allen said this reminded him kind of a thick chicken and sausage gumbo. Kinda. It was super good, and different. The main thing is that it was so easy, yet so yummy!
Equipment You’ll Need
You’ll need a large crockpot and something to stir with. You may also need a small mixing bowl and some measuring cups.
Ingredients You’ll Need
Chicken Breasts:
You’ll need three chicken breasts.
Smoked Sausage:
You’ll need about a pound of smoked sausage.
Frozen Lima Beans:
I used a 12 ounce bag of frozen lima beans.
Chicken Broth:
You’ll need some chicken broth. I used about a cup and a half.
Seasonings:
For seasonings, I used poultry seasoning, garlic powder, and pepper. I didn’t use salt becuase of the sausage would add a salty flavor.
Milk:
You’ll need a cup and a half of milk.
Flour:
You’ll need a third of a cup of flour.
How to Make This Crockpot Smothered Chicken
step one:
Place your chicken, sausage, lima beans, broth and seasonings in a large crockpot. Cook on high for at least 5 to 6 hours.
step two:
Once time is up, shred chicken in the crockpot and stir. In a small bowl, mix the milk and flour and add it to the crockpot. Let it cook and thicken for about 20 more minutes on high.
step three:
Serve over rice or mashed potatoes. Enjoy!

Instructions
