Mixed together with the Cajun holy trinity, seasonings and herbs to get that perfect down south bite. This recipe makes so much it’s actually great for any crowd or party. Read along to see how I made this Louisiana Dirty Rice in less than 30 minutes.
Equipment You’ll Need…
This recipe calls for a large, deep skillet or Dutch oven. I used a deep cast iron that I actually got at Walmart. I use it all the time, and it’s one of my favorites so I linked it below. However, a big ole pot will work just fine. Just need something deep because this recipe makes a lot. You’ll also need a kitchen knife and something to boil your rice in. I have a favorite pot that I make rice in. However, you can use a rice cooker or whatever you have.
Ingredients You’ll Need…
My husband loves this Louisiana Dirty Rice. It is so similar to Popeye’s dirty rice recipe. It’s also such a large dish so it’s perfect for feed a crowd. This would also be super easy to make for a tailgate! All you need is a pound of sausage and a pound of ground beef. Rice, beef broth, and an onion, green bell pepper, and celery. Add in your seasonings for the most classic southern dish. I used poultry seasoning in so many of my dishes. It’s essential. You can find it at any of your local grocery stores.

In a medium pot, add 4 cups of beef broth. Bring it to a boil. Add in 2 cups of white rice, then cover and reduce heat to low.
Step 2
In a deep skillet or Dutch oven, add in your sausage and beef with about a tablespoon of oil so it won’t stick. Sauté on medium. With a spoon or spatula, chop and mince the ground meat until it is fine and no major hunks are present.
