Old Fashioned Homemade Ice Cream

This old fashioned homemade ice cream recipe is seriously so good. You’ll need a homemade ice cream maker to make this recipe. The ice cream is made of eggs, evaporated milk, sweetened condensed milk, milk, sugar, and vanilla. Mix it all up then let it churn for about two hours. You just can’t beat this classic ice cream recipe.
My granny used to always make homemade ice cream An ice cream maker. These are so simple and I actually really fast to use. You can always flavor the ice cream however you like or add But I prefer homemade vanilla.
Equipment You’ll Need
For this old fashioned homemade ice cream recipe, you’ll need a homemade ice cream maker. Mine came from Walmart and was between $30 and $40. It holds 4 quarts. Other than your ice cream maker, you’ll need an electric mixer or hand mixer to beat your eggs.
Ingredients You’ll Need
Eggs:
You’ll need about 6 large eggs.
Sugar:
You’ll beat a cup and a half of sugar in with the eggs. This will turn light yellow and fluffy.
Vanilla Extract:
For vanilla ice cream…
Sweetened Condensed Milk:
This added that extra perfect sweetness and flavor.
Evaporated Milk:
Just another milk…
Milk:
You’ll top of your base with whole milk. There is no set amount. About 8-ish cups.
How to Make Old Fashioned Homemade Ice Cream
step one:
Beat eggs and sugar together in a stand mixer or with a hand mixer until light yellow and fluffy. Add in your vanilla and then your cans of evaporated milk and sweetened condensed milk. Mix well.
step two:
Add your metal ice cream bowl to the outer container. Partially fill with ice and rock salt so the bowl will stay in place. Add in your mixture to the metal bowl then fill with whole milk until it is 3/4 full. This will take about 8 cups.
step three:
Cover with the lid and add more ice and salt until full. Assemble the parts and churn for about two hours. You may need to add more ice and salt along the way as it melts. Serve when thickened and chilled. Enjoy!

- 2 cans Evaporated Milk
- 8 +/- cups Milk

- 2 bags Ice
- Rock Salt
