Savory Herb French Toast with Burrata and Egg
This Savory Herb French Toast with Burrata and Egg is beyond words. I am a big breakfast fan. I’m also a runny yolk fan. I ALSO a burrata fan. What could possibly be wrong with a decadent piece of French bread dipped in a garlic and herb egg wash topped with a rich over easy egg and creamy burrata cheese?? Nothing! It was amazing.
Equipment You’ll Need…
You’ll basically only need a good skillet and a mixing bowl for this recipe. Oh, and a good, thin spatula. I like using a pie dish to make French toast. It’s something about the shallow dish with wide, flat bottom that is effective for French toast.
Ingredients You’ll Need…
For this Savory Herb French Toast with Burrata and Egg, you’ll need a loaf of French bread from your local bakery or deli. Cut it into 1-1 1/2 inch slices. Then mix up your savory egg mixture with egg, heavy cream, herbs, seasonings and parmesan cheese. Top with an over easy egg and delicious burrata cheese… it’s sooo good.
Shopping List:
- Loaf of French Bread
- 3 Eggs
- 1/4 cup Heavy Cream
- 1 tbsp Fresh Chopped Basil and Parsley
- 1/4 cup Shredded Parmesan Cheese
- 1 tsp Salt
- 1 tsp Pepper
- 1 tsp Garlic Powder
- 2-13 tbsp Butter
- 1 Ball of Burrata Cheese
- Cherry Tomatoes to garnish
- Fresh Basil to garnish
Step by Step How to Make This Savory French Toast
Step 1
In a shallow bowl, mix together 2 eggs, heavy cream, parmesan cheese, fresh chopped herbs and seasonings. Slice the loaf of French bread into 1-1 1/2 inch thick slices. Place the slices into the egg mixture. Flip them over, letting them set in the mixture for a few seconds on each side.
Step 2
Add 1-2 tablespoons of butter into a frying pan. Place the toasts into the pan and cook each side on medium to high heat for around 1-2 minutes on each side. Each side will have a seared golden look.
Step 3
Place the toasts on a plate. Cook an egg over easy in a skillet by adding the egg back into the skillet with some butter. Let it simmer on low to medium heat until the white fully cooks and yolk appears more firm. Place the egg onto the toast then break the burrata in half to let the creamy cheese center spread over the egg toast. Garnish with fresh cracked black pepper, cherry tomatoes and more herbs. Enjoy!
