This lemon butter crockpot whole chicken. It’s literally so simple, so delicious, and the possibilities of ways to eat at our endless. It’s tender and juicy and flavorful enough to eat by itself or shred it apart and use it in another recipe.
I seriously can’t think of a better way to cook a whole chicken. This whole chicken in crockpot thing is the most simple and flavorful recipe seriously. We were eating crawfish the other night and Allen is allergic. Really didn’t know how hungry he was going to be when he got home from work, so I threw this in the crockpot. Either he would eat it, or I’d use it for something else. Between him and the other guys around, it was all gone. Nothing but bones were left.
Equipment You’ll Need
About all you’re going to need for this recipe is a crockpot. Mine is the crockpot brand and I believe it’s 7 quarts.
Ingredients You’ll Need
Whole Chicken:
For this recipe. you need a whole chicken.
Lemons:
You’ll need four fresh lemons cut in half.
Butter:
You’ll need a half a stick of butter or a quarter of a cup. I cut mine into tablespoons before adding it to the crockpot.
Seasonings:
As for seasonings, you’ll use salt, pepper, lemon pepper, and garlic powder.
How to Make This Lemon Butter Crockpot Whole Chicken
Step One:
Add your whole chicken to your crockpot. Slice your lemons and squeeze the juice over the top of the chicken, then add the rinds to the crockpot as well.
Step two:
Sprinkle your chicken with seasonings. No specific amount just enough to make sure the top of the chicken is nice and seasoned, then arrange the slices of butter on top of that.
Step three:
Cover and cook on high for at least five hours. Remove from crockpot carefully because the chicken may fall apart. Serve and enjoy!

- 1/2 stick Butter
