What is Marry Me Chicken?

So, I’m assuming this simple dish got it’s name because it’s sooo good that if you cooked it for a suitor they would immediately fall in love with you and ask you to marry them? Haha I don’t know. But really. Who doesn’t love a creamy, parmesan cheesey, tomatoey Italian dish? I know I do. I love making this! It’s easy and it makes for good leftover throughtout the week!

Equipment You’ll Need

I have the exact skillet linked below. The Lodge 15″ cast iron. It’s one of my favorites and I use it often. I linked another as well. You’ll also need a meat tenderizer. I always tenderize my chicken. It just makes for a better texture in my opinion. Then a large spoon or spatula to really scrape the pan after adding in the chicken broth. You’ll want to get all that good chicken crisp and flavor from sautee into your sauce!

Ingredients You’ll Need

Chicken Breasts:

I used 5 chicken breasts. That’s how many would comfortably fit in my skillet but you can always use more or less.

Sundried tomatoes:

You can buy a little 8 ounce jar of sundried tomatoes. I just drained all of the oil out and used the whole thing.

heavy cream and parmesan cheese:

I mean, who doesn’t love this combo? This creates the base of the creamy alfredo-y sauce. So good!

essentials:

You’ll need some olive oil for your skillet. Some seasonings to season your chicken with before sauteeing them and some chicken broth and minced garlic. I added the minced garlic first and then the chicken broth to kinda deglaze the pan to get all that good chicken flavor.

Step by Step How to Make Marry Me Chicken

step one

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. In a small bowl, combine all seasonings. Trim the fat off all chicken breasts and beat both sides with a meat tenderizer. Sprinkle your seasoning mix on both sides of each breast.

step two

In a large and deep skillet, add some olive oil to medium to high heat. Add in your chicken breasts. Cook until both sides have a nice sear, but do not have to be fully cooked. Remove the breasts from the skillet.

step three

Reduce the heat to medium and add in your minced garlic. Saute until garlic become darker and fragrant. Add in some flour and mix it with your garlic. It will become pasty. Add in your chicken broth and scrap the bottom of your pan.

step four

You’ll then add your heavy cream and parmesan cheese. Mix until sauce starts to become thicker. Drain off any oil then add your sundried tomatoes. Stir in and then place your chicken back into the pan. Place back in the oven and bake for 20-25 minutes or until chicken is internally 165 degrees. Remove from oven and serve with fresh grated parmesan or fresh basil. Enjoy!
