Equipment You Will Need

This recipe is fairly simple equipment wise. The main thing that would make the cooking of this recipe optimal is a pot or pan with a light-colored interior base. All of the Le Creuset pots have a white/cream interior. I have attached another Amazon option that is a similar dupe. When creating the brown butter, you need a lighter pot to be able to really see the color of the butter turn. Yes, you can do this in a darker pot; it may just be a little harder to keep good eye on your browning butter. Another thing I used was a 9×9 casserole dish lined with plastic wrap to pack my treats and let them sit.

Ingredients You Will Need

Unsalted Butter:

The base of the recipe. You’ll start with a whole stick of butter to make your warm and rich brown butter.

Mini Marshmallows:

I used a whole bag of mini marshmallows.

Rice Krispie Cereal:

What makes these “rice krispie treats.” I ended up using 4 cups.

Granola:

I used a cup of honey and oat granola. You could technically use whatever flavor granola you’d like.

Raisins:

I used a cup of regular (purple?) raisins. I felt like they added the right touch to this recipe. If you don’t like raisins, simple substitute for another cup of granola or rice cereal.

Vanilla Extract:

Gives it that rich vanilla flavor.

Maple Extract:

The maple extract is the star of this dish in my opinion. It gives it that fall, syrup-like flavor. So good and compliments all the other ingredients so perfectly.

Cinnamon:

You can’t have maple, raisins, and granola without cinnamon, right?

Step by Step How to Make These Maple Granola Rice Krispie Treats

Step 1

Place your stick of butter in a large pot on medium-low heat. Let it melt completely while stirring the entire time. The melted butter will start to foam on top. Continuing stirring, the butter will start to turn a golden brown. Once the butter is a nice golden, brown color, you will start to smell it. Then, add in about 3/4 of your bag of mini marshmallows and continue to stir until they are completely melted. Save the other 1/4 of the bag for later. Add in your cinnamon to your butter and marshmallow mixture.

Step 2

Once marshmallows are fully melted, remove the pot from the heat and add in your vanilla and maple extracts. Stir them in. Slowly add in your rice cereal one cup at a time. Then slowly fold in the rest of your mini marshmallows, your granola, and your raisins. Fold the mixture gently until it is completely mixed together.

Step 3

Line a 9×9 casserole dish with plastic wrap completely. Pour the mixture into the dish, gently smoothing it out on the top and making it even. Place more plastic wrap on top and gently press down on the treats. Cover completely with a lid or more plastic wrap to make it more airtight. Let it set for at least 3 hours. Remove from dish and plastic wrap and cut into squares of desired size. Store in an airtight container. Enjoy!
