I love this sensation salad. Popular here in Louisiana, it’s a simple mix of romaine lettuce, a mix of parmesan and other cheeses, and a lemon and olive oil salad dressing. Add in some croutons for some crunch. It’s simplicity at its best, and you’ll definitely want to try it.

What is a Sensation Salad?

So basically, a sensation salad is just a romaine lettuce salad with parmesan cheese and a simple lemon vinaigrette style dressing. This style of salad is really popular in Louisiana. They may be called the sensation salad or something else. Regardless, they are so easy to make and pair well with anything. I added blue cheese, because it just adds a pop more of flavor. However, you can always leave it out.

Equipment You’ll Need

Again, simplicity at its finest. You’ll need a large salad bowl, maybe some tongs, and a mason jar. I love mixing up all of my homemade salad dressings in a mason jar. That’s just me. You could always just use a small bowl or a measuring cup to make the dressing.

Ingredients You’ll Need

Romaine Lettuce:

You have to use romaine for the recipe. It has the perfect crunch and has the perfect flavor to use in this salad.

Cheeses:

Mainly, you’ll need a parmesan cheese. Not the powdery kind in the can. A shredded or a block you can shred yourself. I also added in some blue cheese. This just added perfectly to the boldness of the salad, but you can always leave the blue cheese out.

Salad Dressing:

For the dressing you’ll need olive oil, another lighter oil like vegetable or canola oil, some apple cider vinegar, lemon juice and seasonings you should have at home. You’ll also grate or mince some of the parmesan cheese and add it in as well.
